SEO Marketing

The single most effective method for directing potential customers to your commercial web site is Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization is the practice of improving your web site’s search engine results page ranking for the keywords and phrases that potential customers enter into a search engine’s query field when they are looking for the products or service that your company sells.

Each month, approximately 14 billion queries are made through search engines. Not everyone who uses a search engine is looking for the products you offer, but the overwhelming majority of the people who are looking to buy what you sell will first go to a search engine to find information and a place to buy. About seventy percent of those who make a search click through to a website that is listed on the first page of search engine results. That first page contains just ten web sites.

In very competitive market segments, most, if not all of the top companies will have active and ongoing Search Engine Optimization programs designed to get their web site onto that first page and keep it there. In these segments, a company needs a top notch Search Engine Marketing firm just to compete. In other segments, there may be just a few small companies. In these areas, it may be possible to compete using only your own in-house expertise. However, using a high quality SEO campaign in these less competitive niches can help an average performing company take over and dominate the competition.

Search engine optimization involves building your web site in such a manner as to make it explicitly clear to an automated search engine algorithm exactly what your web site’s purpose is. You want the search engine to know what products you sell, and what industry you’re in so that when customers enter a query into the search engine, it knows to let them know about your web site with a highly ranked placement. Good quality content on your web site is one aspect of SEO. Another is the proper use of the tags and other markers within the HTML code of your web site that were originally designed to make web sites discoverable. One of the most important aspects of SEO is the careful cultivation of incoming, one-way links.

Search engine treat these one-way links as a solid third-party referral of the quality and relevance of your web site. The text and anchors used on those referring web sites provide a clear indicator to the search engines about the type of content that users should expect to find on your web site. The popularity of the linking web site adds weight to its referral in the eyes of the search engine. Reciprocal links (two web sites agreeing to link to each other) are given much less weight since the search engine sees them as the equivalent of a marriage of convenience rather than a heartfelt recommendation.

Must Have Supplies for Birthday Parties

Birthday Party Supplies

Birthday parties are typically stressful for those who are planning them. This is for a number of reasons. One is that you are trying to make the party perfect for the person whose birthday is being celebrated. Another is that you will want the party to be enjoyable and memorable for guests as well. Party supplies are something that can make or break a party. If you do not take care of the following things then your party might not be the success that you had hoped for. Think about what it would be like to try and serve ice cream without bowls or eat cake without spoons or forks.

One of the most essential party supplies that many people forget is cutlery. You will want to make sure that this is at the top of your list. Forgetting utensils will make your party awkward and could leave you with an unnecessary amount of cake leftover. When you think about your party you will most likely want to have plastic cutlery that guests can just throw away after they are finished. On some rare occasions you will want to have metal or even silver cutlery in order to compliment your party and the occasion. Plus with the plastic silverware there is no clean up which can save a lot of time at the end of a party. The tableware that you will want to make sure that you have includes: spoons, forks, knives, serving spoons, ice cream scoops, a cake cutter, a cake server, plates, bowls, and napkins.

Remember that depending on the type of party that you are having, you might need both dinner and smaller cake plates. Also depending on the drinks that you are serving you might need some type of disposable cups. With alcoholic beverages, you will want to make sure that you have appropriate glasses for each type of liquor or drink. Plus make sure that you are serving drinks in glasses that will not break if dropped. With children’s parties, you might want to consider some type of glass that has either a lid and straw or lid that the child can drink out of. This could save a lot of time and energy that might be wasted cleaning up after spills.

Napkins are one of the most essential party supplies. Napkins are a great way to keep things clean. Your guests will be able to make sure that their hands are clean and not sticky. Plus children will be able to wipe off their faces. Depending on what you are serving at your party, you will want to choose napkins in a variety of sizes. Plus you can always use leftover napkins so this is something that you will want to continue to consider.

Decorations are something that helps to liven up any birthday party environment. You want your guests to feel as though they are entering a party when they arrive. By having the appropriate party decorations, you will be able to easily accomplish this. There are many different types of party decorations available. The most popular decorations include balloons, party hats, party masks, candles, paper streamers, piñatas, confetti, party horns, and party blowers.

Portable Displays

If you are planning on setting up an in store display for promotional purposes you may wonder about the best kind of promotional tables to get in order to display products in a professional manner. There are a variety of options available and much depends on how long you plan on having the display up.

For short term displays, collapsible promotional tables are usually the best idea. These units are often made of aluminum and usually provide an area for you to display graphics related to the product you are promoting. The lightweight collapsible design makes it very easy to set up the display and then take it down and move it to a new location when necessary.

If you are planning for a more permanent design you may want to consider a promotional counter table with either a flat or curved face. These units are nice because they look very professional and they provide a nice workspace for displaying the product and promotional literature. Often there is a large space on the front of the unit that can be used to display information about the product. If the products that you plan to promote will be changed fairly regularly you may want to consider a unit with interchangeable displays on the front.

Product samples, promotional literature and product demonstrations can all be done with ease on a well apportioned promotional table. A pop up frame means that the promotional tables are easy to set up and take down while still being durable and looking very professional. These portable promotional table units are well-suited for locations where space may be limited. For many companies these portable units are a more affordable option than a completely customized display. If you are looking for ways to make your company’s marketing budget stretch further, this may be an ideal way to do so.

If you find that your company is better suited to local trade shows, then the portability of one of these units may come especially in handy since you may find yourself transporting much of your trade show display and equipment in your own vehicle where space may definitely be at a premium. A few portable display units may in fact serve your company better than several custom trade show displays. They will definitely save your company some money, which can no doubt be used for other needs.

Just like in real estate, location is very important when choosing where to place your portable display for maximum impact. The more traffic you have passing your portable display the more likely you are to gain new customers. This same principle applies when you are deciding on the ideal booth location for a trade show. The more traffic the better, so corner booths are definitely premium spots. A portable display unit will allow you to make the most of the available space in your booth. Another often overlooked benefit is that the smaller portable display units require fewer people to staff them, in most cases just one, so this is another place where money can be saved in the trade show budget.

Portable displays are an ideal way to present a professional image, whether at a trade show or with an in store promotional display.

Doggie Bed

Anyone who knows a dog owner knows that people love their dogs. And why not? Dogs are loveable, affectionate, cuddly, sweet, and cute. And what could be nicer to come home to than a dog or several dogs that are ecstatic to see you? It’s no wonder that dog lovers enjoy pampering their pets with the best doggie treats and accessories money can buy.

One thing that many dog owners love to pamper their pooches with is the doggie bed. Every dog deserves a special place to curl up and sleep, a place that is comfortable as well as nicely designed, a place that belongs to no one but the dog. There are many wonderful doggie bed choices on the market today. Below are two of the very best bed choices available.

First Job in Food Service

First Job in Food Service

How many teenagers do you think take a first job in the food service industry? In America, I’d say plenty. Some work for fast food, some as bus boys, and some as waiters and waitresses, but plenty of American teens got their feet wet as a working person in this capacity. I was no exception.

My first job was in the food service department at Six Flags Over Texas. I started there when I was only a fifteen year old high school sophomore. By the time I left, I was nineteen and a sophomore at a local university. That first job served me very well.

My first assignment there was at a corn dog stand named Newman’s. I started out mostly running the cash register. This was the last thing any employee that knew better wanted to do, but I loved it. My job was just what you would expect. I entered the order in the cash register, collected the customer’s money, and gave back change. It was not rocket science, but I enjoyed talking to the people.

One note on the cashier duties, you had to report to the stand and then get a signed slip from the manager that authorized you to go get a till, which was essentially a bag of cash. You then turned around and went to the Cash Control building to request said bag from the agents behind the locked door and bulletproof glass. I can’t blame them for the security measures. They transferred a lot of money on a daily basis there.

One of the worst things that could happen was you ran out of a certain denomination of bill (usually ones) or coin (usually quarters). Exciting, huh? The other thing that could go wrong was running out of register tape. The register was technically called a POS (or Point of Sale) terminal. It required POS tape and we had to make sure to keep that in stock under the counter or we couldn’t use the machine.

After a few weeks on the job, I worked my way up to the serving line. It was a good way to still talk to the guests, as we called them, and not have to handle the money. That meant I wouldn’t have to leave the stand once I signed in.

After a few months, I got to cook the food. How exciting that was! All we served at my stand was corn dogs and french fries. We made the batter for the corn dogs from scratch then, which involved mixing a bag of dry cornmeal mix and water in a huge stand mixer. There was certainly an art to know when to add the water in. Rookies like me often ended up wearing more mix than seemed to stay in the bowl. Speaking of art, it certainly was a trick to dip the dogs. You had to turn your wrist just right to dip the hot dog with a wood stick in one end with out it slipping off into the batter. I learned to make the perfect corn dog and could still step up to the vat today.

That first job led to others, including my being the manager of my own stand, then supervisor over several. I often think about that first job and give thanks that I had that experience. I am sure that all of the other teens out there that also worked in food service have similar stories to share.

Features of Free-to-Air Receivers

Features of Free-to-Air Receivers

There are a variety of different free-to-air satellite receivers and the features that differ from one receiver to another receiver may make you tend to choose one particular type over the other. What are some of the basic features that almost all free-to-air satellite receivers have and what are a few of the more specialized features that set some receivers apart from the rest?

One of the nicer features of some of the newer models is the ability to connect to the internet. This is important because it allows the receiver to upload and install firmware updates easily and also opens up a wide variety of multimedia uses for the free-to-air receiver. This internet connection can be obtained in a couple of ways, either through a built in Ethernet adapter or through an external Ethernet port that is linked to the receiver. This networking ability also opens up the possibility of streaming video and music to other components in your home. USB ports allow for uploading of various forms of data and provide a convenient form of storage for information housed on the receiver.

Channel databases allow you to sort through the free-to-air channels that are available to you based on the satellite that your dish is currently pointed at. By regularly updating these databases, you will be able to compile a list of your favorite channels and their dish settings. Program guides allow you to keep up with what is coming on next and you can schedule your television watching accordingly, even using recording features to save a copy of some of your favorite shows for later viewing. Simply hook up an external hard drive to the unit and you can begin recording hours of your favorite programming. Some of the more high end units even allow you to watch one channel while you are simultaneously recording another, definitely a useful feature.

A great television program can be a real disappointment with horrible sound quality and if you already have a high quality surround sound system set up, you will want to be able to use it with your free-to-air receiver. In order to accomplish this, it is important to make sure that the receiver has a variety of quality audio outputs. Along with the audio outputs, you want to make sure that the receiver has the highest quality outputs for the video system you have. It is best to cross check your existing video and audio systems before deciding on a free-to-air receiver.

Another important consideration is what the remote will allow you to control on the receiver. Some can be programmed to control not only the free-to-air receiver, but also any external components that are attached to the receiver. This can definitely help to cut down on the clutter and confusion that can come from having a separate remote for every individual component in your entertainment system. Also the time for channel scanning is another important specification to look at; if you love to channel surf you may be surprised at the difference a few seconds can make in the channel switching.

There are several important features to be on the lookout for when choosing a free-to-air receiver. A little research can help you to determine which features are most important for you.

Get the Yard Ready

Get the Yard Ready

One thing that many people do not think of before they get a dog is the fact that dogs are escape artists who usually will not stay in the yard if there is any possibility of leaving. Whether you are getting a new dog, or moving into a new house and already have a dog, you need to make sure that your yard is absolutely secure so that the dog cannot get out. Dogs who escape from backyards have a nasty habit of running into the street or taking off and getting lost. If you do not want this to happen, you should take the time to prepare so that you do not have to worry whenever you let the dog out back.

Every backyard is different, but most of them have the same basic features. You will usually find a grass area, a patio, possibly some sort of garden, and everything surrounded by some type of fence. For some reason, whenever you put a dog out in a typical backyard, he will go right for the fence to try and find a way to get beyond it. Some fences are easier to prepare than others. Block walls are excellent barriers. They have no space between the wall and the ground, and the only access points are usually whatever yard entrance there is that is covered with a gate. To make this safe, you need to pay attention to the gate. Make sure that as little space as possible exists between the gate and the posts that the gate is attached to. If the dog can stick more than a nose through, it is too big. Also check how much space is between the gate and the ground. Dogs can often squeeze through small places. The gate should have no more than an inch between the bottom and the ground. If the gate path is concrete, you have no problems. If it is dirt, you would do best pouring some concrete or putting down some wood or other hard material to keep the dog from digging a hole.

Most of us have wood fences. While not as good as block walls, they do a good job. As long as the wood is not rotten and fence boards aren’t falling out, dogs usually cannot go through the fence. The big difficulty comes in making sure that the fence goes as close to the ground as possible. If a space exists between the wood and the ground, a crafty dog will find a way to capitalize. The dog will dig until the space is big enough to fit through, and then you have a chase on your hands. The best way to deal with this is to close the space between the fence and the ground all the way around the perimeter of the fence. Chicken wire, logs, bricks, rocks, or anything else you can block the space with will keep the pooch from digging out.

Spending time preparing your backyard will save you the trouble and heartache of having your dog escape. Nobody wants to go through that, so take the time to make it escape proof.

Quality Really is Important

In this day and age, traveling is a necessity that most of us cannot avoid. Traveling for work is something that many of us cannot get out of. Traveling for vacation is often the only way to go someplace that you will truly enjoy. Even short distance travel, such as to and from work or school, takes place every day and requires us to lug computers, papers, books, and many other things back and forth. Because we are on the go so much, we need luggage and bags that will keep up with us and be there when we need them.

Anybody who travels long distances, whether for business or pleasure, knows the value of a good set of luggage. If you have ever tried to travel with a cheap bag, you know what kind of hassles can occur. You might know the embarrassment that comes with watching your bag come out of the luggage chute at baggage claim in the airport and seeing it open to have all of your clothes and other belongings spill out. You might know what a pain in the rear having a wheel fall off of your bag can be when you are late for a flight and trying to drag your luggage behind you as fast as possible. You might be familiar with the utter frustration that can come with a backpack strap breaking, forcing you to carry the bag on one shoulder until you can fix it. Or you might know the anger that follows having the handle break off of your briefcase, making the item utterly useless for carrying anything, as you then have to carry it with both hands.

When choosing a set of luggage, a backpack, or a briefcase, quality should be one of the top criteria. Yes, we all want bags that look good, but if they do not work when you need them, you have wasted your time and money. A quality bag is the difference between getting to your destination on time, without stress, and having your entire vacation ruined because all you can think about is the catastrophe that happened in the airport when your bag broke open.

When looking for a bag, you want to make sure that it will handle the stress that you intend to put it through. You should find a material that will not tear or wear out. Leather and nylon are both very durable, and with proper care can last a long time. When looking for a briefcase, you want to make sure that it is a good design. Check out reviews on the Internet. If you see several stories about people having the handle break off while they are walking, the chances are good that you have not yet found the right briefcase. When looking for a backpack, pay special attention to the stitching. If you have doubts about the ability of the bag to handle the weight you intend to carry, find another bag.

With the amount of traveling that we have to do, quality luggage is not just nice to have, it is a necessity. Skimping on quality might leave you in a tough position in the wrong place.

Loss Mitigation and Data Recovery

Data Recovery

Any discussion regarding data recovery should include the topics of data storage and loss mitigation. If you are thinking ahead, you will contemplate what could go wrong before it does. Most of us know this is good practice.

If I am operating a business that has significant computing resources, and therefore liabilities, I am going to concern myself with data storage and loss mitigation.

To start with, I need to secure my system. I need strong passwords protecting my data and interfaces and a solid procedure in place for handing out credentials. This level of security is sufficient for most companies, but firms with classified records and the like would need to take this step to the next level. I am sure that the federal government would be more than willing to provide these companies with a set of standards that are expected if that is the case.

The location I physically store my servers is of importance as well. The rule of thumb is dual-location if at all possible. You want a natural disaster or the like to not affect both centers simultaneously. If it’s a multi-billion dollar corporation, they are going to have several data centers with redundant back-ups in different geographic areas. Smaller firms will have similar setups on an appropriate scale. For example, Oncor Electric Delivery, the major transmission data service provider in north Texas has several data centers, but since they are a company that only operates in that region of the state, the centers are limited to that area. These two main principles, data center location and access control should prevent many instances of data loss.

Now let’s turn to the equipment itself. How many of you have ever purchased a new car? How many of you that said yes were greatly frustrated by the smallest thing that went wrong with it in the first few months? It’s not supposed to break, right? Well, sometimes things do break. With technology that relies on miniscule tolerances in manufacturing, it’s only natural to concede that sometimes things just break. Be prepared for that. Have a vendor on deck to replace faulty components and – I can’t stress this enough – back up your data!

Ask any student who ever had to retype most or all of a paper what the value of the “save” button is. Save, save, save. Save your data as often as your company can afford to.

If you have an outage, that usually means data loss, unless you hire a data recovery specialist, which will cost a pretty penny itself. When you have this data loss, you can restore data that you have saved, whether it’s to replacement equipment or repaired original equipment. If you backed the data up at midnight every night and the system crashed at eleven in the evening, you’ve potentially lost twenty-three hours of data. Ouch.

Plan ahead. Use good IT security procedures to protect access. Choose the location of your facility wisely. Equipment fails, have a plan to service it. Back up the data. Enlist the services of a data recovery specialist if you do experience a loss.

Nashville, an American Historical City

American Historical City

Nashville is one of America’s most historical and influential cities. The city is also one of the most visited each year. Nashville’s historical attractions draw tourist each year and the city offer an assortment of guided tours through some of their major historical sites.

Tennessee’s history began in 1796 when it became the 16th state of the Union. The name of Tennessee comes from the Cherokee name Tanasai, which was a Village in the area.
With the first arrivals of settlers in the 1790’s, such as Timothy Demontbruen, James Robertson and the Donelson Party, Tennessee quickly cut it ties as being known as the western part of North Carolina, and later The State of Franklin, and applied for admission into the Union. Within the next century, Tennessee found itself transformed from a trading post, frequented by fur traders from the Mississippi river to the Upper Illinois territories; to a thriving Educational and Commerce center.

In the 1840’s educator Philip Lindsay thought that Nashville should encourage the ideals of Classical Greek education, such as Philosophy and Latin and be known as the Athens of the West. Nashville would later be given a similar nick-name; Athens of the South.

One of the stops on the guided tour in Nashville is the Belle Meade Plantation Tour. Be guided by a knowledgeable tour guide garbed in 19th Century outfits. Highlights from the tour are the plantation house built in 1853 Victorian inspired Mansion, the 1890 Carriage house and stable and 1790 Log Cabin known as the old building in Tennessee. The tour will include displays of rare antiques from that era. The tour gives you a glimpse back into that time period and all its grandeur.

You can’t visit Nashville without visiting the Ryman Auditorium at the Grand Ole Opry. Country music fans will delight in the exhibits that display clothing from Ryman performers from past and present. For a special treat, you can take a backstage guided tour and get a rare glimpse through some of the dressing rooms. Louisiana The history of Louisiana is long and rich. The first settlers were the Native American Indians, who had been settled at such places in Louisiana as Poverty Point and Watson Brake for upwards of thousands of years. The European settlers made their debut in Louisiana in the 16th century, effectively ending the homeland rule for Native American Indians.

French settlers had been in Louisiana since approximately 1528. These early French settlers explored much of the surrounding area, including the Mississippi River and parts of the Gulf Coast. France’s early interest in Louisiana gave the area a distinctly otherworldly feel, and this influence has lasted far into modern day times and is part of its charm.

There were many other settlers for different nationalities interested in Louisiana. German and Spanish explorers soon made parts of Louisiana and Louisiana history their own through extensive exploration.

Louisiana became a state of the nation in 1812, after being sold to the United States by Napoleon Bonaparte. This made it the 18th state in the Union. Following the secession and Civil War, Louisiana was welcomed back into the Union as a melting pot state, creolized by many different nationalities and beliefs.

The history of Louisiana has always been brightly colored by the city of New Orleans, which defies most conventional traditions every Mardi Gras. But this history is one Louisiana is famous for, bringing in tourists every year. Thousands of people make Louisiana history and the streets of its cities their own, proving it to have a rich and diverse culture.
